The Future of Education and Humanity in the Age of AI: What’s the Point of Us? Inaugural Lecture by Neil Gordon

November 5, 2025 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Quote “Following my professorship last year, I am giving my inaugural (public) lecture on “The Future of Education and Humanity in the Age of AI: What’s the Point of Us?” on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM GMT at the University of Hull.
Drawing on my experience in computing, education, and ethics, we will examine how AI is transforming learning, decision-making, and our shared sense of purpose.

The talk will reflect on the journey from early home computers to today’s generative AI technologies in classrooms and healthcare, addressing both opportunities and challenges.

It will also consider critical issues such as educational equity and digital health disparities, asking how we can keep creativity, human experience, and moral responsibility at the centre of our technological future.

This lecture is open to everyone interested in technology, education, and society. Join me for an evening of insight and reflection as we rethink the future of learning and life in an AI-driven world. If you are in the area you are welcome to come along!” –Neil Gordon
